Thermal bath in Igal

Igal has known from its quite excellent thermal water that helped the city on its way of development. Gábor Tóth designed a separate building for the already existing one of the igal spa in his diploma work. His concept was to design something that represents the local values.

One of the main reasons why I chose Igal as the location for my diploma project was mainly personal. I grew up in this little town. Igal has known from its quite excellent thermal water that helped the city on its way of development. Despite of the really great quality of the water and the hard work of the management team, its surrounding and the main building is lack of any architectural value. Its building has been extended without a main concept.

I decided that I wouldn’t continue that procedure, because of its chaotic style. I’ve found a parcel above the extant bath, that could be a great location for a new bulding to be functional on its own, but it is located closely and can offer new opportunities and a higher quality of relaxation to the guests who visits the town.

This location contains three terrace that helped me shape the form of the building and the organization of the functions in it. The building has three main floors. The first floor is the entrance floor that gives place the treatments and the maintenance part of the building. The floor below the entrance floor is the main part of the bulding that contains the bath and the sauna parts.
