School and sports hall

The building complex is made up from a renovated, modernized panel structured school and its most defining characteristic is the sports hall’s shed roof that has two functions as it provides the interior with scattered north light and serves as ground for solar panels on the southern slopes of the roof. Designed by Györgyi Csontos DLA.

The building complex is made up from a renovated, modernized panel structured school, a new A category sports hall and a new entrance hall that connects the two buildings. During the renovation of the school, the floor plan was modified in order to create space for a new kitchen with a dining area and a library that would also function as an IT room. The new layout also made it possible to have a half-sized sports hall with locker room, that could be reached from the entrance hall. The placement and the design of the new sports hall was in accordance with the landscape features and orientation, it was placed into the hill and the big window openings were orientated towards North. The idea behind the shape of the locker rooms and the old school’s library was to emphasize the connection between the two buildings and to break down the scale of the buildings towards the garden and the entrances.

The building complex’s most defining characteristic is the sports hall’s shed roof that has two functions as it provides the interior with scattered north light and serves as ground for solar panels on the southern slopes of the roof.
