RATI – Form follows energy

Dr István Kistelegdi, Sr. and his son Dr István Kistelegdy, Jr. proposed a plastic processing plant and innovation centre in Komló near the city of Pécs, following the principles of their concept of Energy Design©. The long design process had many stages: comparison of the emerging alternatives; working out the elements for passive climate concept; life-cycle analysis; search for local renewable sources; and analysis and validation of the whole project. Inside and out, the figure of the envisioned plant clearly signals a holistic approach of being really green and sustainable. Solar and wind towers are the most unique elements of the building. With modest, minimal architecture it would be possible to reach maximum energy sufficiency; moreover, a significant surplus of energy could be produced.
