Public opinion of recent architecture — functional, structural, economic, social, and the cultural aging of these pieces — is topical talk. What does sustainable urban development mean? And what are its elements? Economic interests and whims of investors can legitimate a building’s destruction, or is there any chance to renew and develop unused or abandoned proerties?
To give a proper solution for this problem is extremely difficult even for professionals. Obvious examples are the "Zeppelin" scandal from 2010, which divided professional architects too, and moves for preservation of Videoton Study, Culture, and Sport Centre.
I believe we can only deal with this issue, if we recognize and find true knowledge of our values. The thesis project was a nice opportunity to investigate a building in an appropriate way. For this I chose Hotel Olimpia, at Normafa in Budapest.
