New office of LOFFICE in Salétrom utca
The small house was in bad conditions but it rewarded the care by a spectacular transformation. The concept of Ádám Paládi-Kovács builds on pre-tensioned structural solutions, it serves the demands generated by the function simply but generously.
When the architects first checked the house, it was in very poor condition, the once nicely formed house with brick cladding was standing as a dilapidated ruin in the inner courtyard of the property. Luckily, the owner saw the beauty of the past in the building and did not want to let it completely vanish though the house had already been considered life-threatening.
The architects applied pre-tensioned rafter system instead of the demolished crown post truss roof with binding joists. As a result, the roof-level gallery became well usable. They did not built the slab again, which had previously collapsed in the west wing of the L-shaped building; so an imposing reception area of great height was formed at the main entrance.
The two sections of slab, which remained partially, were connected with a steel bridge also with pre-tensioned structure.
