Imperial Park - Derby

In her diploma, Bettina Sinka focused on the importance of equestrian competitions and traditions in Bábolna. Starting from this, she developed a multifunctional building complex with a new central building.

Imperial Park – Ölbőpuszta (Bábolna)

Introduction
The difficulty of the task was the complexity of the area, therefore the existing building appears as the basic pillar of my plan. Perhaps this was the main difficulty of the project: compromise between the elaboration of the existing buildings, the design of the new central building. I could only concentrate on these as a whole during the planning and design. The purpose/function was already provided, which can only function correctly if the design is appropriate. The main objective, when deciding on the location, was to renovate contemporary and existing building, as my aim is to conserve buildings, territories, which if maintained can retain their reputation.

Architectural response
The key element of the design program is to include the existing and environmental fram during the design process. During the research, a new functional requirement has emerged, which brings together different parts as a whole.

Defining the function
The main attraction in the history of Babolna is the Derby/horserace, which take place form April to October during full weekends. The local tourism survey have appointed on the importance of conserving horse races and traditions. From this perspective, it became a personal priority to conserve and renovate such buildings and environment, which can enable Babolna to organize world-class competitions and events.
