Cultur barn in Nyárádszentsimon by MOME students
MOME Architecture summer camp has been organised since 2006 by the Institute of Architecture. This summer activity of the first-year students aims to realize in 1:1 one of their concepts. The two weeks long camp has different location year by year. According to the venue the first-year students have to face several challenges each year. The summer camp and also the concepts making period is implemented into the academic education, so students can work on their ideas during the second part of the spring semester.
In 2016 this learning by doing education activity has taken a further step. The class of 15 students and their tutors (Csaba Kovács and Áron Vass-Eysen ) created a real barn in Nyárádszentsimon, Transylvania, which aimed be a creative artistic space with the possibility of hosting exhibitions and operating as sleeping place for artists. Áron Turóczi’s concept was elected to be realized in a strong cooperation with the other class members. Besides the education goals the summer camp forms team spirit, provides real building experiences and involves the locals to take part in the processes.
MOME Architecture summer camp summarizes the knowledge gained during the academic semester and teaches the students on the individual and community level how to work for a common goal. Those experiences help their professional carrier and serve their personal improvement.
